Creative Days of August
Double doors of our studio open, the warm summer moorland wind playing in the trees, the distinctive scent of marigolds and celery wafting into our studio from the cottage garden…
August marks a change of pace for us at Nettle Cottage Prints. We have hung up our marketing hats and put Instagram to bed for the month to clear space to focus on making. Our studio is feeling spacious and bright, and always stocked with a simple jam jar or vintage vase of freshly picked garden blooms.
After an early morning walk with Freddie, we head out into the garden to greet and feed the chickens before heading into the still-cool studio. Doors and windows are opened to let in the moorland summer, and we begin our creative day. Some much-needed creative play and experimentation are on the menu this month, as well as making the most of the warm, dry breezes to fill our drying lines and stock up on prints.
We will, of course, be feeding our creativity with other August-appropriate activities; wandering amongst the ever-blossoming heather, trips to the local beaches to breathe in the salty summer air, and picnics in the garden surrounded by late summer blooms and chickens. Feeding the creative soul.
