Outdoor Living: July in the Moors

July days are accompanied by the swaying, bee-laden spires of campanula and foxglove tips, the lingering scent of elderflower and lavender, and the soundtrack of garden birds, curlews, oystercatchers and the whispering, gurgling stream that runs through our garden.

July means outdoor living for us. The double doors to our studio are almost permanently open, and we are making the most of working in the garden whenever possible. So drawing, design work and carving tend to be outdoor activities.

A cool wind sweeping over the moors, or the occasional dramatic thunderstorm might send us running for the shelter of our log cabin studio. Here, we snuggle up beneath a blanket with Freddie to enjoy the thundering rain on the roof and the fresh summer-rain scent of the downpour, as it sheets downwards forming a waterfall curtain, both shielding us from and connecting us to the great show that is July on the moors.
