Lousy Rain (blue)
This ‘Lousy rain' print celebrates the humble woodlouse taking shelter beneath a mushroom.
Symbolism of woodlice - protection, safety, abundance
Symbolism of mushrooms- light in the darkness, transformation, rebirth
If you're in Yorkshire you might know them as billybuttons, Wales woodpigs, Norfolk pishamares, Hampshire flumps, and Dorset chiggywigs. It's the common everyday woodlouse. Harmless, but always getting blamed instead of other mischievous insects because they hang around with the naughty bugs. Here, a lonely billybutton seeks shelter under a friendly mushroom. They like damp, but there are limits. Bring this little flump home and keep it sheltered from the rain.
Available in either warm grey blue, or soft spring green.
This 7" x 9" off-white mounted print is ready to be placed in a frame of your choice.
This original linoprint is was carved by hand and printed with oil-based ink onto Japanese Ho-sho paper, which has natural flecks. There are always slight variations in the finished print. This is part of the charm of an original print.
